Establishing The Prayer

Fiqh of Formal Prayer 1: Matters Related to the Prayers

Salaah (Prayer) performed genuinely with humility and submission to Allaah (subhanahu wa ta'ala) has unlimited virtues and benefits. It is the noblest expression of faith and the surest way of thanking Allaah (subhanahuwa ta'ala) for His unlimited favors. It is the way to obtaining Allaah's mercy, generosity, kindness, blessings and a sure way to paradise. Allaah (subhanahuwa ta'ala) says in the Noble Qur'aan: “Prosperous indeed are the believers who are humble in their prayers” [Soorah Al-Mu'minun 23:1-2]

Unfortunately, today many Muslims offer Salaah in a careless manner following their own whims and desires. This is why most of our Salaah offerings remain deprived of the gleams and blessings of Sunnah.

The Fiqh of Salaah course is divided into three parts and its purpose is to teach the Fiqh of Salaah in the light of the Qur’aan and the authentic Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him). This is the first part of the Fiqh of Salaah course teaching some very important matters related to the prayers.

Establishing the Prayer: Fiqh of Formal Prayer 2: Description of the Prayer

Allaah has made Prayer compulsory on his slaves and ordered them to establish it and perform it well. The Prayer was one of the most important things which the Prophet (peace be upon him) explained to the people, verbally and practically, even praying on the pulpit once - standing, bowing and prostrating, and then saying to them, “I have done this so that you may follow me and learn my prayer.” [Bukhaaree & Muslim]

The Prophet (peace be upon him) has obligated us to copy him in his prayer, saying, “Pray as you have seen me praying.” [Bukhaaree & Ahmad]

He (peace be upon him) also gave the good tidings to whoever prayed like him that such a person has a covenant with Allaah that He will enter him into the Garden, saying, “There are five prayers which Allaah, Mighty and Sublime, has made compulsory: he who performs ablution well for them, prays them at their proper times, and is complete in their bowings, prostrations and humility, he has a guarantee from Allaah that He will forgive him; but he who does not do so, has no guarantee from Allaah: if He wishes, He will forgive him or if He wishes, He will punish him.” [Maalik, Abu Daawood, Nasaa'i, & Ibn Hibbaan]

Unfortunately, today we find only a hand full of Muslims who know how the Prophet (peace be upon him) prayed.

The Fiqh of Salaah course is divided into three parts and its purpose is to teach the Fiqh of Salaah (prayer) in the light of the Qur’aan and the authentic Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him). This is the second part of the Fiqh of Salaah course teaching the Description of the Prophet’s Prayer.
